  • 8 cups Challah or French bread, cubed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 stalks celery, diced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage (or 1 teaspoon dried)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a large baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Sauté the diced celery and onion until soft (about 5 minutes).
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread, sautéed vegetables, diced apples, dried cranberries, sage, salt, and pepper. Gradually pour in the chicken broth while mixing.
  4. Transfer the mixture to the greased baking dish. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes; remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Fluff with a fork before serving.
