Description

Crispy Moroccan Spiced Chicken Briouats are a delightful fusion of flaky pastry and spiced chicken that elevate any gathering into a culinary celebration. Infused with aromatic spices like cumin and cinnamon, these golden-brown bites offer a perfect balance of textures and flavors that will leave your guests wanting more. Paired with a zesty yogurt sauce, these briouats are not only visually stunning but also incredibly easy to prepare, making them ideal for both casual get-togethers and special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs)
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 8 oz phyllo dough (about 10 sheets)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, sauté garlic until fragrant, then add chicken. Cook until no longer pink inside.
  2. Let chicken cool slightly, then shred using forks. Mix shredded chicken with cumin and cinnamon.
  3. Unroll phyllo dough and cut into strips about three inches wide. Brush melted butter along one edge of each strip, place a spoonful of chicken filling at one end, fold into triangles.
  4. Arrange briouats on a parchment-lined baking sheet and brush with remaining butter. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. While baking, mix Greek yogurt and lemon juice in a bowl; season with salt to taste.
  6. Serve warm with yogurt sauce for dipping.
